Carl
Motyka |
Lead
Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Carl is the respected
vocal powerhouse of the band. With over 20 years of performing experience,
there isn't much that he can't sing. Even The Beatles' classic "Oh
Darlin" won't scare him away.
BEGINNINGS
Home is all over the place for Carl. He was born in Massachusetts,
grew up in Buffalo, NY, then moved to Chicago, IL, then to Minnesota,
then back to Chicago, then to Florida, then back to Buffalo.
Carl's
father introduced him to singing and guitar playing when he was
a kid. Carl grew up in a musical family and always knew that performing
was something that he was meant to do. He developed his singing
and performing skills by playing in garage bands, talent shows,
and later performing in club bands. INFLUENCES
With over 20 years of performing experience behind him, the list
of influences is quite extensive. They change with the times.
The ones that are of significance today are Robert Plant (Led
Zeppelin), Chris Cornell (Audioslave), Little Big Town, and Pat
Monahan (Train).
SONGWRITING
Carl does write his own music. While living in Chicago, he wrote,
recorded and released an album entitled "Siin" with
a band of the same name. The album enjoyed significant regional
success. Carl continues to enjoy songwriting very much and looks
forward to producing original music with The Carl Motyka Band.
"The chemistry, drive, and musicianship are quite strong
with this band. There's a lot of potential for original music."
